BVI’S FIRST EVER AGRI-HEALTH/WELLNESS EXPO

October 31, 2019: Mrs. Arona Forbes and Ms. Maureen Smith Creque will be hosting the first ever Agri-Health & Wellness Expo on Saturday November 30 from 9:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. in the Transformation Church International located in the Ward Building.
Certified Health Coach and Co-organizer of the event Ms. Maureen Smith Creque said “We want people to begin to take more command of their health. The Expo is our way of doing our part to equip the community with the necessary knowledge, expertise and strategies that can assist them to manage their own health.”
The Agri-Health and Wellness Expo will feature six speakers all desirous of empowering, educating and equipping participants with information that will allow them to live their healthiest life.
Medical Director of NHI Dr. Harlan Vanterpool will speak about the importance of wellness as it relates to national health. Health Promotions Officer and Focal Point for NCDs Ms. Ivy George will focus on the Ministry of Health’s plan for promoting health and wellness and Apostle Curnal Fahie will address the relationship between physical health and spiritual health. Also included on the lineup is Financial Specialist, Mr. Trevaughn Smith who will tackle how personal finances impact health, Co-Organizer and Certified Horticulturist, Mrs. Arona Forbes will concentrate on gardening as a part of wellness and Ms. Maureen Smith will speak to the importance of managing stress.
Meanwhile, Certified Horticulturist and Co-Organizer Mrs. Arona Forbes advocated for agriculture to be recognized as an essential part of health and wellness.
“Agriculture has been placed on the backburner for a long time. As the population ages we see the number of diseases that are food related for lack of proper nutrition. It is very important for persons to come out and learn more about how to re-discover our agriculture roots and go back to the garden to plant fresh fruits and vegetables so that our nutrition can be enhanced. We want to bring back greenery to the BVI,” Mrs. Forbes said.
As part of the Agri-Health and Wellness Expo there will be opportunities for stakeholders to reserve a space to network and promote their products and services. Business owners and vendors who are interested in renting a table can contact Ms. Arona Forbes at 284-440-1509 by Friday November 15 for registration information.
“We want persons to come out and be a part of this life changing Expo. Admission is only $20 and it is worth way more than that, but we wanted to give everyone who has a vested interest in their health and wellness an opportunity to benefit from the information that will be delivered,” Ms. Creque noted.
